Individual and Couples Therapy

The Healing Room (THR) offers individual and couples therapy through in-person or virtual sessions with our team of caring and compassionate therapists.  Some of the common issues we treat include anxiety and stress, mood disorders, self esteem struggles, self-criticism, self-doubt, self-sabotage, LGBTQIA+ issues, emotional self-care, grief, depression and adjusting to transitions such as leaving home, college adjustment, graduation, marriage, having a baby, career changes, retirement, and more. THR also treats traumas of all kinds, including medical trauma, rape, domestic violence, abandonment, shame, childhood traumas, humiliation, accidents, assaults and divorce. We tend to also work with issues around self-awareness, mindfulness and personal and spiritual growth. Payment and Insurance: The Healing Room accepts most commercial insurance including Highmark, Aetna, Capital Blue Cross, UPMC, CCBH, Anthem, Optum, Geisinger, United Healthcare, United Student Resources, as well as Medicaid State insurance. If you are unsure, you can call THR @ 814.308.8375 or you can check your insurance company’s website for a list of participating providers. Out-of-pocket payment is also accepted and THR accepts all major credit cards. Receipts for health savings plans can be provided upon request.


Trauma Intensive Program

It can be really challenging to process traumatic experiences during a regular 60-minute therapy session. Trauma intensives offer the time and space for deep processing, resolution and healing. A trauma intensive is a customized program that’s specifically tailored to your circumstances, needs and personality. It’s similar to a day treatment program in that you’ll attend therapy from 9 am-5 pm for a full week. You’ll work 1:1 with an experienced trauma therapist who will incorporate a variety of cognitive, somatic and experiential approaches to support your healing and post-traumatic growth…

Somatic Release Class

When was the last time you let yourself feel? That you gave yourself space to think about what you really want? During this class, you’ll be guided through joy, grief, confidence, and more by licensed trauma therapist and women’s empowerment coach, Kathy Gates LCSW CTT and live musician, Jennifer Bitner. Through physical and emotional movement, you are invited to step into your power and release what you no longer need to carry. Learn how to give yourself permission to relax into abundance and receive all the juicy bits of life.

Yoga Therapy

Yoga therapy uses the tools of yoga—physical practices, stress-reduction techniques (including breathwork and mindfulness), and yoga psychology and teachings—in a 1:1 setting to help you develop custom, individualized practices for greater well-being. It’s a holistic, complementary, mind-body-spirit approach to wellness that works on every level to nurture more contentment, connection, peacefulness, ease and joy in life. Yoga Therapy is offered by Lori Wieder, C-IAYT® Certified Yoga Therapist and can be a powerful somatic adjunct to talk therapy.

Jin Shin Jyutsu

Jin Shin Jyutsu® physio-philosophy is an art of harmonizing the life energy in the body. This modality releases tensions which are the causes for various symptoms in the body. Our bodies contain energy pathways that feed life into all of our cells. When one or more of these paths become blocked, this damming effect may lead to discomfort or even pain. Jin Shin Jyutsu® helps to gently release these blockages for healing and harmony. WHAT TO EXPECT: Clients are invited to lie down fully clothed to receive this gentle, light-touch practice that helps harmonize and balance energy in the body physically, mentally and spiritually.

Reiki

Where attention goes, energy flows. Reiki is a gentle technique used to release stress and tension, induce deep relaxation, and promote healing, balance and an overall sense of well-being. Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe complementary healing modality that allows energy to flow where it is most needed. WHAT TO EXPECT: clients are invited to lie down fully-clothed on a massage table while the practitioner gently places their hands on or over the body with very little pressure applied. Reiki is often described as a warm and deeply relaxing experience.

Therapeutic Yoga and Movement Classes

Specialty small-group movement classes and workshops are scheduled periodically. These groups are limited in size and all are offered from a trauma-informed approach to teaching. Therapeutic Yoga Classes focus on particular specialty areas such as therapeutic yoga for chronic pain, trauma recovery, emotional wellness or stress management. Wellness Workshops and Intensives

Expressive Arts

The Healing Room is home to several therapists who are skilled at incorporating expressive arts in therapy (and are artists themselves!) who offer periodic art therapy groups or expressive arts workshops for children, adolescents and adults. Women’s Retreats

Offered through the Boldly Feminine Retreat Company, our women’s retreats help participants regain their power, re-establish meaning and purpose, reconnect with their authentic selves, rest deeply, and find more joy. Check our Retreats page for updates!
