Trauma Intensive Program

It can be really challenging to process traumatic experiences during a regular 60-minute therapy session, feel you’ve gotten the type of closure you need, then go on with the rest of your week. Trauma intensives offer the time and space for deep processing and healing.

A trauma intensive is a customized program that is specifically tailored to your circumstances, needs and personality. It’s similar to a day treatment program in that you’ll attend therapy from 9am-5pm for a full week, returning home at the end of the day (or somewhere locally if you’re from out of town).

During the intensive, the therapist will stay with you as you tell your trauma story, and provide you with immediate, on-the-spot help for regulating, reframing, releasing, forgiving, doing repair work and learning how to receive good things while establishing new internal dialogues. We provide you with a safe space for you to “go there,” and work with you to retrain your brain to recognize that you no longer need to carry hypervigilance around. You’ll have the space and support you need to tell your story, while learning new ways to take care of yourself when your feel triggered or dissociate. We’ll incorporate somatic techniques to help release trauma stored in your body, along with a variety of experiential therapy approaches including creating a graphic narrative to examine your instinctual trauma responses and to reframe your trauma story in a way that the brain can store it properly. Approaches may include EMDR, IFS and a variety of other modalities help target parts of you that have remained affected by the trauma and are interfering with you living well now.  

As part of the intensive we’ll meet with your hometown therapist and can provide them with all of the notes and pictures from your intensive, as well as an action plan that highlights suggested areas to focus on in subsequent months of regular therapy. A follow-up video session one month after their intensive is provided. 

Please note that customized trauma intensives are not covered by insurance and are paid out-of-pocket. Half payment is required when booking the intensive, and the remaining half is due before the first day of treatment. TOTAL COST: $5,500.00 per week.
