Medical Billing

The Healing Room (THR) is hiring an experienced medical biller! THR is a licensed outpatient treatment center located in State College, Pennsylvania. Our mission is to provide clients with a holistic approach to mental health services, offering exceptional, cutting-edge therapeutic techniques, along with complementary modalities to support deep healing!

Duties and Responsibilities

Billing:

  • Verify client coverage and eligibility for therapy services

  • Post charges and payments to correct accounts

  • Submit claims through through insurance websites

  • Communicate with insurance providers, therapists, and clients

  • Review patient invoices and correct any missing or inaccurate information

  • Use billing software to prepare and transmit claims

  • Collect unpaid claims and manage discrepancies via telephone or email communication.

  • Use insurance carrier portals to check client eligibility and claims information

  • Investigate and appeal claims that were denied

  • Complete data entry to update internal billing spreadsheets

Credentialing:

  • Review and process therapists initial credentialing information and supporting documentation. Follow up with therapists to ensure all information is obtained and accurate

  • Complete and process payer enrollment applications for therapists for Medicare/Medicaid/Commercial Insurances/ or other plans.

  • Complete timely follow up on all applications.

  • Maintain therapist profiles and NPI’s CAQH and internal spreadsheets

  • Ensure that re-credentialing is completed in a timely manner to prevent any lapse in enrollment.

  • Monitor and maintain current documents (licenses, malpractice insurance).

  • Maintain confidentiality of all therapists information

  • Complete re-attestation

Qualifications/Required skills:

  • At least 2 years of medical billing experience (Required)

  • At least 2 years of credentialing experience (Preferred) 

  • Knowledge of insurance guidelines including HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements and systems (Required)

  • Competent use of computer systems, software, and EHR’s, specifically TherapyNotes (Required)

  • Familiarity with CPT Coding

  • Knowledge of Availity, InstaMed, and other insurance driven portals

  • Experience with behavioral health billing

  • Experience with behavioral health credentialing (Preferred)

  • Effective communication skills

  • Exceptional customer service skills for interacting with clients regarding insurance claims and payments

  • Ability to work independently, as this is a primarily remote position

  • Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, and appeals

  • Maintain patient confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)

  • Ability to multitask

Pay/Job Type/Location:

  • Job Type: Independent Contractor, up to 15 hours per week.

  • Pay: $20.00 per hour

  • Location: Remote in State College, PA


Outpatient Therapist

The Outpatient Therapist provides outpatient therapy and related clinical services to adolescent, and/or adult clients and their families in office or remotely.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implements and maintains The Healing Room’s philosophy, principles, and procedures in all facets of performance.

  • Provide services and conduct self in a manner consistent with the profession Code of Ethics. 

  • Assess or provide therapy, counseling, intervention and/or education to clients in a professional manner. 

  • Provide clinically appropriate treatment based on mental health assessment and treatment plans.

  • Complete timely and accurate documentation. Meet audited test requirements.

  • Assure continuous reimbursable sessions for assigned clients. 

  • Fully participate in staff development opportunities offered to enhance professional growth, especially to maintain license, certification, or identified program performance skills.

  • Participate in planned supervision and case consultation conferences. Come prepared with an agenda and keep the supervisor informed.

 Requirements: 

  • LSW, LPC, or LCSW is required 

  • Master's degree in Mental Health, Counseling, Social Work or Psychology with a minimum of two years' experience. 

  • Pennsylvania licensure and insurance credentialed is required. 

  • Support the organization's mission along with sensitivity of cultural and workplace harmony.

  • Planning and time management and strong organizational skills. 

  • A valid driver's license along with access to a vehicle.

  • Management of work processes along with strong computer skills for documentation purposes.

  • Ability to maintain confidential information within HIPAA guidelines and organizational policies.

  • Ability to be flexible especially with scheduling and site locations and to perform and prioritize multiple functions and tasks. 

  • Communication along with professionalism.
